Microfiction Dim Sum – bite-sized story delights

During the February 4th reading group event, member Michael Clement proposed the idea of a writing contest for each meeting, which the members agreed to. The contest rules are quite simple:
• Open to members only.
• The story must be 55 words, no more, no less (titles are not included in the word count.)
• No set theme, genre, or prompt; write a fictional story about whatever you want (no poems).
• The members present will vote for the best story.
• The winning story, along with a link to the author’s member bio, will be posted on the HKWC website (so make sure to update your bio and photo).

Note: If unsure of your story’s word count, use the Word Count function under Review in MS Word.

To enter, members must share their piece via the WhatsApp group on or before 6:59 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Although we welcome every member to share their dribble, only members who read their piece during the First Tuesday Reading Group are eligible to win the contest.

The Circle will set a poll on the WhatsApp group at 7:00 p.m. All members are invited to vote for their one favourite piece on or before 11:59 p.m. on the reading night. The one has the most votes will win the contest. The winning piece will be featured on the website.

(Legal stuff: By entering this contest, the author grants the HKWC the right to publish his/her story on their website and to archive it permanently. All other rights remain with the author.)

Here are the winners of the contest.
